Britain-based games developer Media Molecule used the Develop Conference in Brighton to announce that its LittleBigPlanet game has been enjoying an unprecedented increase in the number of new players after the PlayStation Network (PSN) outage in April.
Speaking at the conference, Media Molecule’s co-founder Alex Evans confirmed that LittleBigPlanet attracted more than 1.5 million users following the PSN outage.
Revealing the figures, Evans said, “There have been over 1.5 million new users since the PSN outage… it’s growing. It’s not a stagnant community. We have 4.7 million levels published, and half a billion plays of those levels.”
LittleBigPlanet was made a free-to-play title as a part of Sony’s Welcome Back Offering following the PSN outage. But, the title is no longer being offered for free as Sony’s Welcome Back Offer has ended.
Earlier this month, Media Molecule declared that they were ditching LittleBigPlanet to focus on some new projects; however, at the conference, they assured people that they would keep on providing updates for the title for a long time to come.
