The Center for Science in the Public Interest's (CSPI) 2011 Xtreme Eating Awards has revealed the reason behind the obesity factor.
The CSPI stated, “Look at it this way: Some diners may want to put on extra weight, boost their blood pressure, and bump up their LDL (‘bad’) cholesterol. Restaurants are just there to help”.
According to the awards, the Cheesecake Factory’s Red Velvet Cheesecake contains 1,540 calories and the saturated fat was notified as 59 grams.
IHOP Monster Bacon ‘N Beef Cheeseburger consists of two bacon-burger tarts topped with provolone and American cheeses contains 1,250 calories and 42 grams saturated fat.
Denny’s Fried Cheese Melt with fries included 1,260 calories, 21 grams saturated fat and 3,010 milligrams sodium.
The Cheesecake Factory Farmhouse Cheeseburger that consists of pork belly, fried egg, cheddar cheese, onions, lettuce, mayo and tomato, carries 1,530 calories and 68 grams saturated fat.
The other high fat and high calories food notified were, Cold Stone Creamery PB&C Shake with 2,010 calories and 68 grams saturated fat. Great Steak extra-large King Fries with 1,500 calories and 33 grams saturated fat and Morton’s Porterhouse Steak with 1,390 calories and 36 grams saturated fat.
CSPI Senior Nutritionist Jayne Hurley stated that restaurants have been responsible for increasing health risk as they provide the high calorie tempting foods.
According to her, more and more "stacked, stuffed, and topped" food has been provided and preferred.
