North West Premier Thandi Modise has adopted a children’s ward at Mafikeng Provincial Hospital to help sick children at the hospital.
She visited the hospital at the weekend, with her MECs, heads of departments and senior managers of her office. Her visit was a part of her contribution to Mandela Week campaign.
In the Mandela Week campaign a lot of politicians and officials helped in preparing the food for the patients, cleaning wards, washing babies and ironing clothes. Modise’s visit was a part of this campaign and she was moved by seeing the condition of children in the ward. Therefore, made a decision to adopt the ward and promised for frequent visits.
She stated, “I’ll do everything possible in my personal capacity to ensure that the ward is in good condition, provides the best possible care for children, is properly maintained and the children stay in a clean ward”.
She complained the management about the hygienic conditions of the hospital and asked for the regular cleanliness program. She asked the hospital manager Mosela Kaudi to look after the hygiene factor of the hospital to ensure safe treatment for the patients.
The hospital management informed her about the inadequacy of medical equipments and other hospital related problems.
