Qantas Joins Prostate Cancer Drive

Qantas Joins Prostate Cancer DriveIn a noble gesture to be part of a drive to spread awareness regarding prostate cancer, a special Boeing 737 aircraft was seen showcasing the distinctive blue ribbon logo of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia at Sydney airport, on Thursday.

Not just this, all the passengers in addition to the working staff will be tested for prostate cancer under the drive. As per reports, about 60% of Qantas' total strength is male with an average age of 44 while the airline's premium class passengers are aged between 40 and 60.

A prostate cancer survivor and Qantas CEO, Alan Joyce, is of the opinion that for their airline, life of an employee is equally important as that of a passenger.

It’s being reported that besides Joyce, Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan had also battled out prostate cancer and perhaps the duo is the best example for all those who have lost hope of near survival after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Sharing their experiences with prostate cancer, Mr. Joyce and Wayne Swan claimed that facing the trauma of prostate cancer triggered the much needed launch of Qantas' partnership with the Prostate Cancer Foundation.

Moreover, Qantas would be funding travel expenses of the prostate cancer specialist nurse’s pilot program for the next three years.
