It has been reported that the Galway researchers are holding a campaign to help the patients with the back pain problem via Pain Disability Prevention Programme (PDP). The program is backed by the Centre for Pain Research at NUI Galway.
Throughout the program, the patients with back aches will be given ten sessions with a psychologist, trained in pain management. The centre has told that the session will be focused upon active rehabilitation, pacing techniques, cognitive therapy to identify negative thinking and stretching and exercising to improve physical function.
The program is being provided to the patients for free of cost. The Galway researchers will be holding the program at various counties which will include Galway, Donegal, Sligo, Mayo, Limerick and Cork. It has been told that the program is actually a trial of the new method or treatment for back pain.
Through this trial, the researchers will also be hearing the problems of the patients with back pain. In order to avail the services of the PDO, a patient has to be suffering from back pain for a maximum period of 12 months. However, while going through the trail the patients will also be given the option of accessing physiotherapy and other support services.
