In a recent development, the government has refused to have anything to do with the centre for the care of autistic, in Waikato. This has led to the unforeseen closure of the same, which has made life difficult for hundreds in need.
These were the services merely this organization provided and the people in need would now have to go far from their region for the same as no one else in the vicinity provides them.
The branch of Autistic care at Waikato has reached its closure after they did not have enough funds to meet the needs of the people and after the government did not lend a helping hand to the same.
Money from the government is hard to fetch and the autism centre is now facing closure, resulting in discontent for the many people who were in need of their services.
"Autism NZ is a health-focused service but we would argue that it’s more than just health, that it’s social, education, justice, employment. Their criteria were such that we believed we fitted into the social services criteria and they didn’t agree”, says Autism NZ Chief Executive Alison Molloy.
There are speculations on as to what next should be done in order to avert the closure of the facility. The authorities are looking for a way to help the organization in order to help the people in need.
