The Electronic Arts (EA) and Bioware game “Dragon Age 2” has been removed from digital platform Steam.
Online games retailer Steam, a subsidiary of Valve, has removed the entire content of Dragon Age 2 just a few days following the release of the first downloadable expansion for the title, called Legacy.
EA said that the title was removed from the digital platform because of Steam's restrictive terms regarding patch and DLC releases.
Confirming the removal of the Dragon Age 2 from Steam, EA stated, “Unfortunately, Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to sell downloadable content. Consequently some of our games have been removed by Steam.”
But, some experts are of the view that EA’s attempt to sell the title from within the game rather than via hosting website Steam was the reason that prompted Steam to drop the title.
However, EA assured that would try to work out an agreement with Steam to keep their games on the popular digital platform.
