Dragon Age II, the EA and Bioware game that recently received its first downloadable expansion, called Legacy, has disappeared from digital platform Steam.
Dragon Age II is not the first game to suffer removal from Steam, as Crysis 2 had also suffered the same fate recently. The removal of the games is a proof of a rather a strained relationship between the two companies.
EA held Steam’s parent company Valve responsible for the games’ removal, saying their restrictive terms regarding patch and DLC releases were responsible for the removal.
Speaking on the issue, EA said, “Unfortunately, Steam has adopted a set of restrictive terms of service which limit how developers interact with customers to sell downloadable content. Consequently some of our games have been removed by Steam.”
Meanwhile, experts believe that EA’s attempt to sell the game from within the game rather than through Steam website could be the reason behind the strained relationship between the two companies.
Earlier, relations between EA and Valve became bitter due to delay in the release of Alice: Madness Returns, and the absence of Battlefield 3 on Steam.
