Fcaebook, the world’s biggest social networking site, claims to have as many as 750 million users worldwide.
Since its launch in 2004, Facebook has been wreaking havoc on society. Different surveys have already suggested that numerous users now suffer Facebook Addiction Disorder and withdrawal anxiety. A huge number of users of the platform waste hours on posting updates.
Some even warned that overuse of the site could result into "Facebook cancer threat", but that claim has since been widely discredited.
While some consider Facebook to be the devil's workshop, a great number of Internet users can not live without it. Many experts also believe that Facebook provide a good platform for those who find it difficult to make face-to-face contact.
Professor Daniel Miller, of anthropology at University College London, carried out a year-long study into how the site will evolve. The study, published in the form of “Tales from Facebook” claims that the future for Facebook is grey.
At one point, Miller says, “We assume that Facebook is something we should associate with the young, but my evidence suggests that this is entirely mistaken.”
According to Miller, Facebook is a beneficial technology for the elderly. The social networking site allows the elderly to keep closely involved in the lives of people they care about, especially when making face-to-face contact becomes difficult.
In short, Facebook has become an integral part of modern life.
