After selling 12.2 million smartphones in the second quarter of this year, Taiwanese handset maker HTC aims to sell 13.5 million smartphones during the third quarter.
The target is nearly double the number of smartphones the Taiwanese firm sold in the third quarter of last year.
During the last quarter, HTC shipped 4.5 million less smartphones than Finnish handset maker Nokia. But, in case HTC manages to achieve the ambitious target for the third quarter, it would be on track to surpass Nokia in 2012.
While average selling price (ASP) is expected to remain stable quarter-on-quarter, revenue in third quarter is expected to jump to $4.75 billion.
HTC has already made its name in shipping high-end Android smartphones, and now it sees 30 per cent of its product sales made up from its range of WP7 touting devices.
The increase in smartphone sales will get a big boost from its newest flagship handsets, viz. the HTC EVO 3D and the HTC Sensation. HTC recently confirmed that its 3D-capable EVO 3D smartphone had been delayed to September.
