North Shore Hospital Installs New CT Scanner

North Shore Hospital Installs New CT ScannerIn a much anticipated move, a new Toshiba Aquilion One scanner has been installed at North Shore Hospital, which is reported to shorten the waiting time. With the news hitting the corners of the society, it’s being believed that patients who have been queuing for immediate scan reports would get some relief as faster scans will be done.

Moreover, the scanner is reported to probe every single angle of an organ in addition to monitoring blood flow and function. It won’t wrong to say that with the introduction of a technically refined $2.8m worth CT scanner, a large number of diseases, including head injuries, strokes and cardiac disease would be examined in a better manner.

Confirming the news, Dr. David Cranefield, CT radiologist team leader, claimed that it would allow the hospital to sustain rise in demand which they have faced so far. Moreover, Chief Executive Dr. Dale Bramley said: "The CT scanner is a key part of ensuring that we continually improve the service we provide our community”.

It has been told that the scanner is located in the newly expanded Radiology department. Besides the CT scanner, a new Emergency Department and an Assessment and Diagnostic Unit is expected to be part of North Shore Hospital's Lakeview development programme.

Being the first of its type in New Zealand, the North Shore Hospital will be looked upon as an exemplary site for other DHBs around the country.
