Soaring sales of tablets will provide a big boost to mobile broadband market in 2011, according to a new report from IHS iSuppli.
The report predicts that flourishing sales of tablets will make shipments of mobile broadband devices by 57.8 per cent to 157.9 million units this year.
It may be noted here that mobile broadband devices, such as tablets, notebook and e-book readers, are widely used to get high-speed wireless connectivity on the move.
In 2010, total shipments of mobile broadband devices were recorded at a total of 100.1 million, which represented a growth of 57.4 per cent from the previous year.
Tablets will be at the forefront in boosting mobile broadband market.
Speaking on the topic, Francis Sideco from HIS said, "More than any wireless device, media tablets - exemplified by the best-selling iPad from Apple - appear to be at the forefront in boosting mobile broadband.”
However, mobile broadband market will start seeing a decline in its growth rate. It will decline to 38.1 per cent in 2012, and continue declining until 11 per cent in 2015 to around 350.7 million units.
