Kids Being Exposed To Multiple Screens

Kids Being Exposed To Multiple ScreensResearchers of the University of Bristol have found that kids are exposed to five screens in a day. The findings of the study show that the parents are not doing enough to protect the kids from harmful effects of viewing screens.

The researchers conducted the study over 63 kids and found that the kids are given the privilege of exposing themselves to multiple screens at a same time. The author of the study, Russell Jago said, “The children in this study often had access to at least five different devices at any one time, and many of these devices were portable. This meant that children were able to move the equipment between their bedrooms and family rooms, depending on whether they wanted privacy or company”.

The researchers are of the view that simply removing television from kids’ room won’t play the role of protecting kids from the excessive exposure to the screens. It has been reported that kids have formed the habit of using video games, Facebook and TV at the same time. Besides, they also indulge into texting.

Too much exposure to screens can lead to problems in the later life of the kids. The researchers have warned that exposing kids to multiple screens at a time may boost sedentary lifestyle, which ultimately could trigger diseases like obesity and cancer.
