Auckland's Mayor is putting his best efforts to make Auckland the world’s most lively city. To serve the purpose, the official has also planned to add some new changes, which he will be revealing during his meeting on Thursday.
According to the reports, Mayor’s 10-year plan for the city includes many new changes including the possibility of congestion charges also. Mr. Len Brown will be discussing his Long Term Plan for 2012-2022 in the council strategy and finance committee meeting that is scheduled on Thursday.
The reports have also confirmed that Mr. Brown will be entirely signaling congestion or network charges as the primary option to raise capital, which would further serve to pay for ongoing or future transport projects including the top priority project of the Auckland City Rail Link.
Suggestions to sell some council land and buildings to serve the purpose would also remain the highlight of the proposal because the need of council to upgrade the transport infrastructure is $10 billion, which could not come from taxpayers anyhow.
"This is where we turn aspiration into implementation”, Mr. Brown said during the meeting, while outlining his fondness for his pet project and ''number one priority'', the city centre rail link.
