Carrier Aer Lingus has welcomed the acceptance of its pilots of the 30 Million Euros Cost cutting package that was recently proposed by the arbitrator, Kieran Mulvey.
Last night, the pilots told their union, IALPA, to get into talks with the company in order to address the implementation of the plan, which includes 10% pay cuts and about 76 job cuts.
However, in a motion that was passed in the meeting of the pilots and the union, the employees of the airline did mention that some points of the arbitration report had managed to raise some concern, including outsourcing, pensions and increments.
IALPA has stressed that legal advice had kept them from giving their approval for these clauses of the report.
Aer Lingus has shared that it has already sent out an invitation to IALPA to discuss the final elements of arbitration with a view to agreement on January 21.
"In this regard we recognize the pilots may require certain clarifications and the company will be happy to respond to this", the airline said.
