NSN to Cut 1,500 Jobs by 2012The global cut of around 1,500 positions from the Nokia Siemens networks (NSN), GSM and WiMAX technology divisions has been announced due to redundancies. However, New Zealand and Australian staff will not be losing any job.

The company also announced last week that around 1,200 staff members will be redeployed and will be transferred to areas like LTE and WCDMA businesses. The redeployment and economizing efforts will prolong till 2012. NSN has around 70,000 employees worldwide.

Also, around 150 jobs will be reduced from the divisions of R&D from the site of the company in Swindon by the month of June 2012. Swindon unit has currently around 450 staff members working at the site.

A NSN Australia spokesman has notified that the 9600 people who were recruited during the acquisition of Motorola’s wireless networks business, in April, will be targeted during the cut and the company’s Australian and New Zealand operation will not be affected by these layoffs.
