More Funds for HospitalsSoon the Blacktown Hospital will be introducing 30 more beds. Moreover, it will also be receiving $33.7 million as a part of the Federal Government’s health reforms.

It has been told that the new beds will be introduced in the hospital soon after the visit of the Federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon and Greenway Federal Labor MP Michelle Rowland. Michelle Rowland said, “Health reform will deliver 10 rehabilitation beds and the development of a 20-bed neuropsychiatry unit to provide sub-acute mental health services”.

Besides, the Federal Government has pledged to provide $1.1 billion as a part of new funding for the NSW health and hospitals. The money will be provided to the hospitals for a period of four years.

As per this unique scheme, the Commonwealth will slowly take over a greater part for health funding and will pay up to 50% rising healthcare costs, beginning from 2014. Moreover, the deal will also include $16.4 billion for public hospitals.

Meanwhile, it has come to light that nine small health IT projects have been provided with $70 million funds. The funds have been provided by the Health Minister Nicola Roxon as a part of e-health record program. It has been revealed that most of the amount of the fund has been distributed among the projects, NSW Health trading, as Health Administration Corp pocketed almost $15m; Northern Territory $12.8m; and Tasmania $3.5m.
