Bing, Software colossal Microsoft’s search engine, reported an increase in its UK search market share in July, though Google remained the no. 1 search engine.
As per figures released by internet research firm Experian Hitwise, Bing enjoyed an increase of 0.96 per cent, bringing its market share in the UK to 3.84 per cent.
The figures also revealed that the popularity of Microsoft’s search engines also enjoyed a year-on-year growth of 0.67 per cent, allowing Microsoft to overtake Yahoo to become the second most popular search engine in the UK. In June, Bing had slipped behind Yahoo, to third spot.
On the other hand, world’s most popular search engine suffered a fall in its share in the UK search market. It slipped by 0.98 per cent in July and by 0.56 per cent on a year-on-year basis.
Despite the fall in its popularity, Google still accounted for 91.04 per cent of all searches in the UK in July. It means Bing has a long way to go before overtaking Google.
Ask Sites grabbed 1.44 per cent share of UK searches in July this year, while others had 0.68 per cent.
