Sony teams up with UK retailer GAME to sell digital content

Sony has signed an exclusive deal with GAME to sell downloadable games, subscriptions to PlayStation Plus and other downloadable content in the UK high-street retailer’s stores.

To begin with, the content will be available at 42 stores at GAME and Gamestation stores across the UK. By mid-September, the service will be expended to all 620 stores.

Titles initially available to gamers will be those published directly by Sony, such as the God of War Collection, MAG and WipEout Fury. Third party game titles will be made available later on.

A spokesperson for GAME has confirmed that the pricing structure for every individual product has been already disclosed.

Speaking about the deal, GAME Group’s chief executive Ian Shepherd said, “This is important because it offers customers more choice, more advice and more control than they can get online.”

The deal will provide GAME with access to Sony’s PlayStation Network content, which is bound to make GAME the biggest retailer of digital games in the UK. It may be noted here that no other retailer has access to Sony’s PlayStation Network.
