Ground Beef Contaminated by E.Coli Bacteria

Beef-recalledThe National Beef recalled 60,000 pounds of beef from three stores on the grounds of doubt that a specific packaged lot of beef was contaminated with E. coli bacteria. The three stores which were asked to hold the selling of beef were Winn-Dixie Stores Inc., Publix Super Markets Inc. and Kroger Co.

The US Department of Agriculture revealed that there were chances that the bulk of beef being doubted must have been sold out in various parts of the country. Places like Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, South Carolina and Tennessee were also being influenced due to the recall made by authorities.

The issue of contamination was brought into notice by the largest traditional grocery store chain of country at Kroger, the recalled products include ground chuck, ground beef patties, and meatballs and meat loaf made in stores, packaged with dates of July 29 through August 12.

The agriculture department also reveals that so far not a single case of illness from the consumption of beef has been reported. E. coli is a deadly bacterium which can lead to the occurrence of bloody diarrhea, dehydration and other problems. The agriculture department has warned people to cook ground beef to a temperature of at least 160 degrees.
