UK high-street video game retailer GAME will sell downloadable PlayStation Network content and subscriptions to PlayStation Plus, thanks to its exclusive deal with the entertainment giant Sony.
In case you wander into a Game or Gamestation store, you will be able to pay for the downloadable content over the counter, just like in a case of physical product. You will receive a 12-digit PIN code via a text message, which will allow you to access the content at home from the PlayStation Store.
Of course you could buy the game or content direct from the PlayStation Store online from home. But, the new service will allow parents and other to buy games for their kids who are waiting at home.
Speaking about the deal, GAME Group’s chief Ian Shepherd said, “This is important because it offers customers more choice, more advice and more control than they can get online.”
To start with, the service will be available at 42 GAME and Gamestation stores across the country. The service will be expended to all 620 GAME and Gamestation stores by mid of September.
Initially, only those titles that are published directly by Sony, such as MAG, WipEout Fury, and the God of War Collection, will be available. Third-party titles will be available later on.
