Hacking group Anonymous on Wednesday breached the computer security of San Francisco’s Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) police union Website and stole officers’ private data.
BART police union disabled their website immediately after they found that hackers accessed their personal details, including home addresses, emails and passwords.
BART union president Jesse Sekhon said they would take help of the FBI to bring hackers to justice.
Speaking on the topic, Sekhon said, "These people are criminals and we're going to forward this information to the FBI.”
Hackers said that their move was retaliation against BART’s decision to temporarily cut off underground cell phone service last week. It may be noted here that BART had cut off cell phone service to stop protests at some of its train station.
Bart police have been under fire since it shot a homeless man dead in July. Officers claim that the man had lunged at them with a knife, but the killing triggered aggressive protests.
