Several restaurants in London have added ‘London Honey Special’ to their menus, as the capital city preparing for the London Honey Festival that will take place at the Royal Festival Hall on August 21.
Restaurants have partnered with local beekeepers to support urban bees and celebrate their city's honey. Restaurants say that London's honey tastes very god and their “London Honey Special”, which is toasted banana bread with London honey and homemade ricotta, would allow customers to enjoy it.
Restaurants are offering local honey in a variety of ways, ranging from cocktails to flapjacks, and from dressings to glazes.
Speaking on the topic, Emily Crawley of Ethical Eats said, “We hope that many of the relationships established between caterers and beekeepers will continue so Londoners can support urban bees and community hives when they eat out.”
Shaun Alpine-Crabtree, of participating restaurant Table Cafe, said that their initiative would support both, local bees as well as beekeepers.
The upcoming London Honey Festival will provide beekeepers with great opportunity to reach a wider audience and sell honey. A honey map will also be provided to help people find their local beekeepers and the opportunity to see live bees in hives.
