Mobile phone carrier Vodafone has announced the launch of in-app billing service in Germany and the United Kingdom.
The new service will allow Vodafone customers in the two countries to purchase apps and other things in the Android Market and have the total amount charged in their monthly phone bills.
It means customers will not have to pay via credit card, as they previously did, to make purchases in the Android Market.
But, if you are a pre-pay customer, you will still be able to take advantage of the new service by making use of your credit to purchase apps instead of making calls.
Announcing its new service, Vodafone said in a blog post, “In addition to facilitating the best possible user experience, Vodafone operator billing extends your reach to the large number of app buying customers who are unwilling or unable to use credit cards.”
The move will also help app developers as in-app purchase id among the biggest revenue generators for app developers.
The network provider also said that the service will be expanded to additional devices and more markets in a short time.
