According to early reports, the Sony’s $50 price-cut on the PlayStation 3 (PS3) hardware has resulted in a significant spike in the sales of the console in the UK --- and, there’s probably more to come; thanks to an extensive 5,000 run of six-sheet public posters ads set to hit the UK High Street!
The price cut has brought down the cost of the entry-level 160GB model of the PS from $300 to $250; with the price of the 320GB premium version of the console being slashed to $300 from $350.
While both Target and GameStop have reported that the Gamescom-timed price-cut has brought about an improvement in the sales of the PS3 in the US, at least one retailer in the UK claims that the effect of the price-reduction has been so remarkable that the sales of PS3 have witnessed a whopping increase of as much as 65 percent!
It is being hoped that the sales performance of the PS3 is set for an even further increase next week, largely because the forthcoming release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution – a V. I. P. cyberpunk first-person shooter - this Friday will mark the much-awaited beginning of the holiday shopping season.
Even though Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be a multi-platform release – with the best visual experience apparently being on the PC -, it still will be the first time that console owners will be able to put the complete experience of the game together for merely around $310!
