Brits over-indulge on food and drink while on holiday!

A holiday break for most Brits is apparently a break from healthy lifestyles too --- what with a new research has suggested that many Britons over-indulge on food, and drink “as much as they can” while they are on a holiday!

Revealing that nearly £610 is spent by the average British holidaymaker on food and drink during a two-week break, a survey by Churchill Travel Insurance found that after spending astonishing amounts in eating and drinking while on holiday, most Brits subsequently go on weight-loss regimes after they return home.

Further pointing out that the ‘all-inclusive’ holidaymakers are apparently the worst among the over-eating lot, the survey showed that while 25 percent of the holidaymakers in Britain try to get their money's worth by drinking as much alcohol as they can; nearly 52 percent of them end up eating more than usual; and almost 30 percent gorge sugary and high-fat foods.

With the survey underscoring that the overindulgence on food and drink by the Brit holidaymakers implies a post-holiday-detox trend that is emerging to avoid having to claim on health insurance, Churchill Travel Insurance’s Annette Fox said: “It seems that British travellers are making the most of the cuisine on offer in other countries while they are abroad.”

Fox, however, also added that the holidaymakers should make it a point to “check that the food is safe to eat” in case they are eating away from their hotel, as well as “be safe and know your limits when drinking alcohol”!
