Daffodil Day in New Zealand not only signifies fund-raising day for cancer patients, but also for spreading awareness regarding the cancer.
The day celebrated by the Cancer Society on 26th August has been sponsored by the National Bank, which is also it principal sponsor. For years, the Cancer Society has won the hearts of people by providing efficient services and by remaining true to their work. Therefore, they are regarded to be the one of the country's most trusted charities and this trust reflects in the amount of donation they receive.
The donations they receive are transferred to the scientific research, which is doing study into the matter and trying to discover, treatments for all types of cancer. Not only this, the donations are also used to provide support services, information, health promotion and education programs to reduce the risk of cancer, awareness campaigns and programs for people affected by cancer. As per survey, one in three New Zealanders suffer from one or other type of cancer.
Daffodil Day is organized by the Cancer Society by keeping in the mind that bright yellow flowers remind of joys that new season would bring.
