According to reports, yesterday, Simon Coveney, Agriculture Minister, made a very shocking claim, which said that Farm Safety policy shoddily failed to work the way it was supposed to, as the workplace farm deaths figures proved that this year the number increased by 50%.

Meanwhile, he continued to show his concern about the issue and accounted that this year, already 40% of the workplace accidents have occurred on the farms and despite the followed safety improvement procedures, the safety officials so called effective policies, failed to put a break to these deadly accidents.

Moreover, at the intercontinental symposium on agricultural occupational health and safety, which was scheduled in Dublin, he added, “Ireland’s figures are somewhat better than other countries apart from Scandinavia, but looking at this issue in terms of figures and raw data is a cold way of doing it and Ireland needs to learn strong lessons from countries where policies are working”.
