Following the revelations of poor health care provided by a number of Chinese hospitals, it has been unveiled that a patient was left to die in the operation theater when the operation theatre caught fire. It has been revealed that during an outbreak of fire all the doctors of Shanghai No 3 People's Hospital ran away leaving patients behind.

Because of the carelessness of the hospital authorities, the 49 years old man succumbed to death as his lungs were chocked by the fire smoke. It has been reported that the man was being operated after receiving serious injurious in an accident. The friends and family of the deceased are asking the hospital authority to explain the reason of his death.

The fire broke out when a team of doctors were operating him. The nurses did try their best to control the fire with fire extinguishers, but the fire spread swiftly rather than slowing down. The relatives of the patient saw the doctors fleeing from the operation theatre.

On being questioned, Hospital President Fang Yong accused the medical staff saying that their conduct was not justified. It has been reported that the patient was on ventilator but the authorities failed to understand that his life was still under threat amidst the fire smoke.
