No tablet has so far been able to competently rival Apple's iPad. HP recently rolled back its TouchPad as it pulled the plug on its webOS-based tablet just around two months of its launch.
South Korean electronics giant Samsung's Galaxy Tab has managed to snatch some market share from the iPad, but the new version of it could make debut in several countries, like Australia and Germany, due to patent lawsuits filed by Apple.
Now, online retailer Amazon is reportedly reading its own iPad-rival, which could debut as early as October this year. Reports suggest that the Amazon tablet will be offered with very inexpensive price tags.
According to a recent report published by the New York Post, the Amazon tablet would cost "hundreds less" than Apple's popular iPad. But, no expected price tag was mentioned for the potential iPad rival.
Many experts believe that Amazon may offer the tablet for less than what it would cost to it. This possible as Amazon may get its hardware out first, and may generate profits digital content sales that will jump due to the Amazon tablet.
Amazon hasn't revealed any software or hardware specs about its potential tablet, but reports claim that the Amazon tablet will run on Google's Android 3.2, and feature a 9-inch screen, slightly smaller than Apple iPad's 10.1-inch screen.
