Rising Obesity Rates Concern Global Health Authorities

Rising Obesity Rates Concern Global Health Authorities Soon Europe will be in a deep mess with its obesity rate rising by 73% in next 20 years, says a study.

It has been notified that Britain will witness a rise in its obesity count. At present, 15 million are suffering from obesity problem, and the count is expected to rise to 26 million over next 20 years. This rise in count indicates rise in number of diabetes, heart disease and cancer patients as well.

Similarly, the threat of obesity has been a concern of almost all the countries. According to a study by the team of Oxford University and Columbia University, around half of the US men will be obese by the year 2030 and almost the case was similar among the women as well.

China has also been victim of obesity, as nearly 429 million people in the country were obese and the country has long been facing an enormous increase in the obesity rate.

University of North Carolina nutrition professor Barry Popkin stated in Reuter, "In China, the economic costs of obesity are enormous, in terms of treatment costs, paid sick leave, loss of productivity, disability and premature death".

South Africa and many other countries have been struggling with obesity rate rise, which would easily result in more hospital admissions due to diseases linked with the problem.
