There are efforts being made by the health system of Canterbury for improving the dental health of the people of the vicinity. There has been the organization of an open day by the Aranui Community Dental Clinic to serve the children of the vicinity. According to this, all children who visit the centers in the Christchurch suburbs shall be given free dental checkups and treatment.
It was revealed by Dr. Martin Lee from the authorities that children about five year old have higher tooth decay and the children of the vicinity are more likely to get fillings and tooth extractions. This facility is going to provide four dentist chairs for the children of the area.
The team is of the aim of restoring dental health to all children of the area. They are of the view that "This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the oral health of children in an area of Christchurch where dental care is desperately needed", Dr Lee says.
There is need for stress to be laid on proper dental care in the people. It is essential to maintain good oral hygiene habits so that one can flaunt a great smile all his life.
