Finnish handset maker Nokia has confirmed that hackers managed to breach the security of its developer forum website and stole away a database table containing user account information.
On Monday, Nokia suspended the website and warned developers that hackers accessed their personal information, including names and email addresses, after they exploited a bug which allowed them to carry-out a SQL- injection attack.
However, the renowned handset maker assured that passwords and credit card details were safe.
The Nokia advisory stated, "However, they do not contain sensitive information such as passwords or credit card details and so we do not believe the security of forum members' accounts is a risk."
Before the hacked website was taken offline, people visiting it were being redirected to a website that was depicting an image of Homer Simpson slapping his head and yelling out `D'Oh'. Below the image of Homer Simpson, were the words explaining that the worlds leading mobile manufacturer was not spending a dime to secure its server.
Chastising Nokia for its slack security, hackers warned that the handset maker could be a future antisec target in case didn't try to improve its web security.
Nokia also claimed that it had fixed the initial bug, but suspended the developer community website as a precautionary measure.
