FixMyTransport uses crowd-sourcing to fix public transport problems

FixMyTransport uses crowd-sourcing to fix public transport problemsCommuters have got a new platform to notify operators about problems with rail, bus, tube as well as ferry services.

Launched Tuesday, FixMyTransport is a new website with the slogan “Euston, we have a problem,” and an aim to improve public transport.

FixMyTransport provides commuters with the tools to report their public transport problems to the right operator or authority and also to post the problems online so that other commuters may know where problems exist.

But, the site is not just to post complaints. Users may also praise operators or authorities if they are happy with the quality of service they get.

The project, which is the result of 18 months' of work by a lone developer Louise Crow, is the newest brainchild of non-profit organisation MySociety.

Myfanwy Nixon of MySociety said, "FixMyTransport then offers a powerful toolbox to help them spread the word and lobby for changes.”

The data for FixMyTransport comes from the National Public Transport Data Repository and National Public Transport Access Nodes, which offer names of route, stops and operators.
