Earlier, we used to hear that sleep disorders mainly affect the middle aged people between 35-45 years but today this ailment has started affecting young people as well especially the ones, who work in night.
Yes, today being called as a lifestyle disease, sleep disorders have been found to trouble the young population worldwide as well, reason behind being supported as to be a change in the lifestyle and the working hours of the youngsters.
Some of the major sleep disorders according to the doctors are respiratory sleep disorders including hypersomnia, sleep apnoea, hypoventillation syndrome and neurological sleep disorders including central nervous system sleep disorders.
The doctors also urged people, who are suffering from the sleep disorders to not ignore or suppress the problems by taking sleeping pills as these definitely increases many other risks. Thus, they recommend patients to get themselves and their sleep patterns diagnosed in a sleep lab to get the right knowledge of their ailment and to enable them to start the best treatment suitable for same.
PGI has one of the very well known sleep labs, which has been serving people with such need since few years now. The lab in 2008-2010 saw 351 patients, whom they diagnosed at their sleep laboratory and treated them accordingly.
