Plastic Surgery and Breast Implants: Researchers at Work

Researchers at WorkMany studies have been done and many more are still ongoing on to study if there are any after effects of getting silicone gel breast implanted, but no firm results are out yet.

Thus, to clear this mystery running since many years, a panel of expert advisors have recently asked FDA to conclude some useful truths about all those thousand women enrolled in studies, which have been said to be running to evaluate all those rare complications that could arise even years after (in some cases) post receiving silicone gel breast implanted.

To solve the above highlighted mystery, FDA prepared a preliminary review of the study data in June and said that getting breast implants don’t do any harm to the women, but along with this fact, they also added that breast implants are not suggested as the lifetime devices because they could create complications like breast hardening or rupture of the implant.

Also, FDA said in the review that no evidence has been found to prove that silicone implants can cause breast cancer or connective tissue diseases. Studies are still ongoing to answer the questions about rare events better.

“Based on these study designs, it’s not going to be more powerful to just double the length of time the studies are running”, said Phil Haeck, MD, the President of American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
