The Android-based Toshiba AT100 tablet will hit UK and European store-shelves on 1st of September, the Japanese manufacturer confirmed.
Otherwise known as the Toshiba Thrive, the Toshiba AT100 runs on Google’s Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system, and will feature a 10.1in HD capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 800x1280 pixels, a dual core Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC clocked at 1GHz, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera plus a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
The list of other specs of the tablet includes 1GB RAM, 8GB/16GB/32GB of onboard storage, Bluetooth 3.0, two USB & HDMI ports and a SD card reader.
Praising its new tablet, the Japanese hardware outfit said, “Ideal for users who want to enjoy HD performance on their tablet, the Toshiba AT100 combines NVIDIA Tegra 2 processing technology with Android 3.1 providing both power and everyday ease-of-use.”
Toshiba quotes a battery life of 7 hours during multimedia playback, but the tablet weighs 765g and measures 15.8mm in thickness, which makes it a bit chubby.
In addition, the Toshiba AT100 will be accompanied by optional accessories like an external case, the Multi-Dock, and replaceable battery packs. Prices will start at around £400 for the 16GB Wi-Fi version of the tablet.
