Christchurch on Its Way to RecoveryThere is good news for the Christchurch residents, it has been reported that the damages caused to electric system by the devastating earth quake has been successfully repaired by the Orion. Orion is the electricity network company, which has repaired the urgent faults so that proper electricity could be supplied to the residents.

It has been unveiled that with the pursuit of supplying electricity to the residents about 700 electric sector workers worked over the project. In order to repair the Pages Road substation, which sank down, two meters in the ground because of earthquake, a new substation has been commissioned at Rawhiti Domain, in New Brighton.

The new substation will be providing electric supply to about 20,000 users in the north-east Christchurch alone. Because of it the homes and business which were lying in darkness will now be illuminated and normal working of the area will begin.

During inauguration of new substation, the Chief Executive of Orion thanked people who helped in saving electricity by not using unnecessarily. Although the major damages have been repaired, the electricity network company has yet to take decision as to how to recover other electrical damages which were incurred because of the six months back devastating earthquake.
