High salt intake increases blood pressure and also the chances of being contracted by cardiac arrest and low salt intake could lead to premature death.
Both the facts have been proved by two different studies. Cochrane Library conducted an experiment by clubbing all the researches done in this field in which they studied almost 6,500 volunteers and found that there is no proof that low intake of salt decreases the chances of heart attack but slight improvement in keeping high BP in control was found. Researchers also revealed that shortage of salt in the body could lead to premature death.
The research, funded by UK authority, stands opposite to the study conducted by Belgian researchers who said high intake of salt keeps high BP in control and also reduces the risk of heart attack and premature death.
Yet again a study was conducted in which both the above studies’ findings were taken with 3700 European volunteers. The number was divided under three labels, low, medium and high salt takers. The salt intake was measured through urine test, and it was found maximum deaths occurred in low salt group and minimum in high salt group.
So the moral of the story is: take salt according to your body type.
