In a recent announcement, Sony Ericsson said that its new top-of-the-range mobile handset, the Xperia Arc S, boasts the unmatched ability to click 3D panoramic pictures using a standard 2D camera.
As per the company, it will be possible for the users of the Xperia Arc S - which will likely hit the UK stores next month - to view the pictures taken on the smartphone on any compatible TV set.
Elaborating further, the company said that though the pictures will be viewable in 2D only on the handset itself, they will be able to simulate 3D on any suitably-equipped 3D television, once the handset is connected to the TV set with the help of the HDMI output.
This will be possible of the fact that the Xperia Arc S - which will be available in five colours: black, white, silver, blue, and pink - essentially works by clicking a number of simultaneous images and then `stitching' these images together.
According to the details shared by Sony Ericsson, the key features of the Xperia Arc S include a 4.2-inch screen and a 1.4GHz processor, which supposedly is 25 percent faster than its preceding version. The camera definition of the handset, which runs Google's Android 2.3 operating system, is an enviable 8.1-megapixel.
In fact, the Xperia Arc S - unveiled at the IFA show in Berlin - can also act as a remote control for the Sony Bravia TVs; and features Sony's Music and Video Unlimited media stores.
