McDonald's will soon make it easy for its consumers to check-out the calorie count on their Happy Meal, milkshake, burger, salad, and more.
As revealed by the Department of Health (DH), McDonald’s, the burger prodigy found by Ray Kroc, is all in readiness to embed calorific and nutritional data to its immensely popular menus.
During the initial phase, all McDonald’s restaurants in the United Kingdom, 1,200, will follow refreshed and renovated menus starting Wednesday.
The change is part of a calorie labeling assurance proffered to the Department of Health by almost all leading companies and restaurant.
Under the same pledge, various leading corporate like Pizza Hut, KFC, JD Wetherspoon and Pret a Manger have already inked the bill. And, McDonald’s is scheduled to jump on the bandwagon this Wednesday.
These companies will start renovating in excess of 5,000 high street food openings by the end of 2011. The change is apparently inspired by various researches, which have proved that by mentioning calorie count on food items, people tend to take the printed information rather seriously. It influences their choice a big deal, thereby enhancing health conditions along with managing obesity issues.
Health Secretary Andrew Lansley revealed that nowadays, nearly one out of six meals is taken away home, and for all such meals, there’s no exact idea regarding the amount of calories being consumed.
