In a shocking revelation, Arthritis Ireland has sent alarming signals in the society by claiming that gout is on rise, thereby putting a huge question mark over the theory which indicated that gout is a disease for the old rich patients.
It was reported that nearly people between 130,000 to 185,000 are diagnosed with the disease, which is known to be as the 'disease of kings'.
Irrespective of the economic status of a person, the disease is said to have affected the aged people to a glaring extent.
Though men are said to have found the pain in their joints at the age of 40 and 60, women tend to get affected with the excruciating pain between 60 and 80.
It has been told by medical experts that abnormal uric acid level is the reason behind the pain and even men are at a high risk of almost three to four times as their uric acid levels rise during puberty as compared to their counterparts.
As per experts, excessive weight, old age, high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol level are among the major reasons of making an individual at escalated risk of gout.
Though condition do improves in between with variation in uric levels, it’s being believed that constant medical attention needs to be given to a patient before the normal attacks become acute health concern beyond repair.
