Even Thinking About Coffee Intake Could Be Beneficial: Study

StudyPeople often say that they remain refreshed all day by the consumption of coffee but the researchers argue that it’s all in the mind.

The researchers of the University of East London examined 88 coffee addicts between the ages of 18 and 47 who felt two cups of coffee a day was must for them. Half of the people were given caffeinated coffee and were informed that it was decaffeinated and the other half were given decaffeinated coffee and were informed that it was caffeinated later they were observed on several grounds.

The study notified that after the intake of coffee both the teams exhibited good performance but the ones who were told that their coffee included caffeine but actually it didn’t, performed better in the response test that included their mental alertness, feedback times and temper.

The researchers notified that the anticipation about the improved corollary may lead to better results as the addicts were satisfied that they have had the coffee which would ease them throughout the day.

The research published in the journal Appetite notified, “The findings suggest the expectation of having consumed caffeine confers an enhancement on sustained attention that is at least comparable and perhaps superior to, the effects of caffeine”.
