A recent report revealed that the tendency of smokers smoking cigarettes in a day has reduced in the US. According to the report, since 2005 there has been 21% fall in the smoking habits of smokers.
It is believed that smokers are actually listening to the warnings of medical experts. Still, it is necessary for them to understand that tobacco usage can lead to death.
Dr. Thomas Frieden, Director of the Atlanta-based agency, has warned that occasional smokers are at the same risk of developing tobacco related diseases as regular smokers are.
He believes that increased taxes over cigarettes and tobacco have pushed the consumers to cut its intake. Smoking is found to be most common habit of the people who belongs to low income group or an American Indians.
It has been unveiled that the smoking alone costs $193 billion to the direct health care every year. If these expenses are saved, then this money can be invested over productive tasks.
There is a need to make people aware of the dire consequences of the smoking. It is recommended that more campaigns should be run to inform people of its ill effect.
