Intel's Developer Forum, being held from September 13 to September 15 at San Francisco, will reportedly witness the chipmaker highlighting new chips for laptops as well as tablets!
In addition, Intel is also likely to use the forthcoming event for sharing information pertaining to a new range of thin and light laptops - the Ultrabooks - for which Microsoft will seemingly exhibit its upcoming Windows 8 OS.
In the opinion of most analysts, including Jack Gold - principal analyst at J. Gold Associates -, the Developer Forum might also see Intel make attempts to drive home the idea that its Atom chips can outperform ARM when they run on Android-based tablets. Further, to prove this point, Intel may also likely put on display some of the new Android tablets based on the imminent Atom chips.
Gold also said that along with trying to carve a niche in the emerging mobile markets, Intel is also apparently looking to build and grow a developer base. Clearly, as Intel hardly has nay presence in the smartphone and tablet markets, the company can supplement its hardware only if it has a well-developed software ecosystem.
With there being reports that Intel intends holding technical sessions for Android and Windows developers at the next week forum, Mercury Research's principal analyst Dean McCarron said: "You are seeing Intel take steps to fit into the newer as well as older markets."
