The Earthquake Recovery Minister, Mr. Gerry Brownlee is putting in his best efforts to make sure that insurance company in London starts drumming up continuing cover for Christchurch. To fulfill his aim, he is presently in the UK and will be soon talking to Lloyds insurance operators to convince them that their offering policies to Canterbury would make a good business sense for both the sides.
Brownlee's main aim to visit UK is to convince insurance underwriters that business with Christchurch would prove lucrative and is definitely a good business opportunity.
There are reports that most of the Cantabrians find it difficult to pay inflated premiums or they simply don’t think to get the cover thus, Brownlee is in UK to give a 90-minute briefing to the underwriters, which stands very vital to Canterbury's recovery.
"I think the message is that we're getting on with the rebuild of Canterbury that is largely going to see us de-risk the future damage from earthquakes. I think what we saw today was an audience that was receptive”, Brownlee told after the meeting.
The region suffered a massive earthquake in February, which made insurance companies to lose more than $17 billion. Thus, Brownlee highlighted that the deal could profit them big.
