Use of certain social media sites, including Facebook, has been banned civil servants in the UK, but communications workers can still log in to Facebook as their roles involve use of social media.
According to the Press Association, workers at the Department for Work and Pensions can also access Twitter and LinkedIn, but only for work-related purposes.
The Press Association cited Employment Minister Chris Grayling saying, "The department recognises social media is a valuable tool for engaging with jobseekers and partners."
Use of social media sires, such as Facebook, has been banned in offices as many are of the view that their use is a major risk to corporate security.
As per a fresh research by global risk consultancy Protiviti, following the increase in popularity of social media sites, users are now becoming privacy and security.
Protiviti found that 74 per cent of younger workers, in the age group of 18-24, using such sites everyday, while only 21 per cent older workers, in the age group of 55-56, were accessing such sites daily.
