According to the findings of a new research published in Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, Apple currently holds a dominating 73 percent share of the UK market, which presently has nearly 3.62 million people, in all, having some tablet computer or the other.
The results put forth by the tablet tracking service further reveal that while Apple's dominance of the UK market is set to continue in the future, it is also highly likely that some other brands will get a foothold in the UK tablet arena.
Highlighting that Apple's enviable accomplishments in the UK tablet market are largely connected with the company's success in the smartphome market, Kantar insight director Dominic Sunnebo said that despite the fact that the Apple iPad will dominates sales in the tablet space in the near future too, "there is still potential for other manufacturers."
Pointing to the statistics, Sunnebo said that going by the Kantar data, almost 28 percent of the prospective buyers of a tablet computer in the next year are "still undecided about which brand to buy" --- though 80 percent of the iPhone owners will apparently go in for the iPad!
Further adding that most of the tablets boast a connection to Wifi networks at home as well as the capability to be used on the move as an e-reader with apps and playing games, Sunnedo said: "One consideration for the future will also be the relationship between smartphones, tablets and PC's and the necessity of having all three."
