Two Townsville Doctors Honored with OAM

Two renowned doctors of the area are among the three residents of Townsville, in North Queensland, who have been recognized for their achievements, and honored with an Order of Australia Medal.

medical-lecturerDr. Chris Kennedy has been awarded an OAM for his contributions in medical work and education. He was previously serving as the District Manager at the old Townsville Hospital, and helped with the designing and development of the new medical facility at Douglas.

Also, he was a senior medical lecturer for a period of 5 long years at the James Cook University.

"The hospital and the health services associated with that and the medical school would definitely be the highlight of my time", Dr. Kennedy shared.

The other doctor to bag the OAM is Dr. Will Cairna, who has been honored for his service to palliative medicine.

The third man to be honored from the area is Geoffrey Evans, who walked away with an OAM for service to the veterans’ community in North Queensland.
