Panasonic is unveiling its new addition to its multiple awards winning TZ series, replacing the very popular Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3, the company's top-of-the-line compact and powerful 12x optical zoom, is the DMC-ZS7.
However, the 12x f3.3-4.9 25-300mm-equivalent lens remains the same as the prior model, but possess a hand full of new extras including built-in GPS.
The GPS will contribute latitude and longitude to the EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) data and display real-time location information during shooting and playback.
It internally stores more than 500,000 landmarks, covering 73 countries, that will be displayed on the 3-inch, 460K-dot LCD while taking a picture of the landmark and tagged in the data. In addition, the system will internally synchronize the camera's internal clock to the local time.
The spectacular optional marine case (DMW-MCTZ10) facilitates for underwater photography taking advantage of an outstanding shooting range from 25mm to 300mm for both photo and movie.
The latest model is equipped with a 14.5-megapixel CCD and shoots with up to 12.1-megapixel resolution, enabling one to capture dynamic, richly expressive shots with a wide perspective.
The ZS5 has replaced the ZS1 in the lineup. As a step down from the ZS7, it is devoid of the GPS, stereo mic, and AVCHD Lite, and has a reduced resolution, lesser than 2.7-inch LCD.
